Windows 10 File Explorer Will Not Refresh


If you find Windows 10 file explorer will not refresh there is a registry setting that will solve this problem for you. You can find the original post here

Here’s the down and dirty.

  1. Open Regedit as an administrator
  2. Locate this key address given your operating system
    1. For 64-bit based computer, locate this key address HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\CLSID
    2. For 32-bit system base, locate this: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID
  3. Right click on CLSID and click NEW then KEY
  4. Use this as the Key Name: {BDEADE7F-C265-11D0-BCED-00A0C90AB50F}
  5. Right click in this newly created Key Name and click on New than Key and name it Instance
  6. Right click on Instance and  choose the ~WORD Value (DWORD is for 32-bit, and QWORD is for 64-bit) and name it as DontRefresh. ~WORD value should 0 (Zero)
  7. Restart you computer
